Simply outstanding! A home from home!
ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! My first stay at this Mercure, but not my first stay in Nice. I booked a room with a balcony, which was the perfect size for me with two large comfortable outside chairs and a table; I could use the balcony in the morning until 12.15pm (then the sun came in the heatwave!) and from around 7pm as the sun set. My relaxation with reading over coffee was simply heavenly on this balcony. 5 stars or 10/10 are not enough! I was in Nice during the heatwave and the outstanding (recently refurbished, I believe) air-conditioning was AMAZING! My double room was just the right size and the bathroom also was fine. The shower was excellent with rain shower and powerful water each day, accompanied by Nuxe of Paris hand and body wash. The cleanliness is faultless; the housekeeping staff must be praised for their attention to detail! The bed was extremely comfortable and provided a decent night's sleep throughout my 12-day stay. The bedding was crisp and of high quality. The room included a nice fridge with coffee and tea making facilities and a safe, along with a somewhat cool lime green easy chair. The cleanliness of this hotel cannot be missed; there is high attention to detail throughout! My stay included breakfast and of all the Mercure's I have stayed at, the breakfast here was the best - and they have all been very good! The staff clearly take pride in their job to provide high quality services. The breakfast staff recognised I preferred a certain table, therefore it was made available for me. The choice of food is excellent - hot, cold, traditional breads, croissants, pains au chocolat etc alongside pancakes etc etc. Hot and cold drinks - note that a key Mercure service is the range of choice in fruit juices (at least 5 different juices to choose from!). Reception staff and welcome, goodbye and service during my stay was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble - including getting a fixed taxi price for me and enabling me to consider the option, before going back to the company to make the booking I needed. The lobby is great - plenty of seating areas and again, immaculate. I had a minor housekeeping issue during my stay which was rectified to perfection - you couldn't ask for more! The location of this hotel is perfect, being approximately 2 mins' walk from the main town area with its restaurants and maybe 5 mins from the sea (Promenade des Anglais). I felt highly safe, welcome and a true guest at the hotel. The fresh water (still or sparkling) in reception for all guests to use was truly amazing during the heatwave. There is a rooftop bar, albeit I did not try it out. I cannot praise this hotel enough and shall absolutely be returning - merci à tous et à toutes !

Be ready for a major dissapointment.
Location was good, thats where the good news ends. The room ; some would describe as tired, I would suggest “exhausted “ would be a more appropriate description. With dust oozing from the air conditioner, it did not work well. I reported this at the front desk, they said a technician looked at it while we were out, nothing changed not even the dust. The hall carpets were stained and smelly. The roof top bar was a lovely environment however the barman was not interested in service, didn’t want to give us big glasses because someone else might want them, we were them only ones there. On the previous night the same barman told us we couldn’t order a charcuterie board , even though he had just served one to another couple.. Overall there was no hospitality in this hospitality venue, with the exception of the gentleman who served breakfast.

Regarding the air conditioning, we regret the inconvenience caused. As soon as the issue was reported, our team arranged for a technician to inspect the unit. We are nevertheless sorry that you did not notice any improvement afterwards
We are also aware that some areas of our corridors would benefit from refurbishment. A carpet replacement project is planned, and in the meantime we are continuing with regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure the best possible environment for our guests.
Concerning the rooftop bar, we sincerely regret the service experience you describe. The situations you mention regarding the glassware and the charcuterie board do not reflect the level of hospitality we expect from our team. Your comments have been shared with the team concerned so that these points can be addressed.
We are particularly sorry that, overall, you did not feel welcomed or well looked after during your stay. This is certainly not the impression we wish to leave our guests with.

Not good
Excellent location, top-notch breakfast staff ......reception staff not very friendly (not all of them), not very helpful, no introduction to the hotel .......rooms are not 4-star and issues with missing money from the room

An experience to forget
Dirty hotel, with tiny rooms, bathroom of 1.5 m2 actual size. Incomplete linens, shower towels used as face towels, no personal hygiene kit, no minibar. Single-door wardrobe. In the bathroom there is no place to put a toothbrush or anything else. Toilet attached to the shower. Slippery shower. Closet with almost zero capacity. Air conditioning not working.

Per quanto riguarda le dimensioni della camera e del bagno, desideriamo precisare che il nostro hotel è ospitato in un edificio storico e che tutte le nostre camere sono diverse, sia per configurazione che per superficie. Disponiamo inoltre di categorie di camere più spaziose, che possono rispondere meglio alle esigenze di alcuni nostri ospiti.
Siamo inoltre sorpresi dal suo commento relativo al minibar, poiché tutte le nostre camere sono dotate di frigorifero. Nelle camere Superior e nelle categorie superiori, le bevande del minibar sono incluse e vengono rifornite quotidianamente.
Ci dispiace inoltre per gli inconvenienti da lei segnalati riguardo alle dotazioni del bagno e alla biancheria fornita. Le sue osservazioni sono state trasmesse ai responsabili interessati affinché vengano rafforzati i controlli necessari.
Infine, per quanto riguarda l'aria condizionata, ci dispiace se il suo funzionamento non è stato all'altezza delle sue aspettative durante il soggiorno.
Ci auguriamo comunque di avere l'opportunità di accoglierla nuovamente e di offrirle un'esperienza più conforme agli standard del nostro hotel.

OK but wouldn’t stay here again.
Staying for five nights during a bit of a heat wave.
Check in was quick and a pleasant service from the lady on reception.
Room is OK. Clean but the bathroom is tiny.
Maid service has been excellent so far with fresh towels when requested.
Small fridge works well and keeps drinks cool.
Rooftop bar is OK although tall seating is uncomfortable. Needs cushions. Views are not great, no sea view, just roof tops. Pleasant waiter though.
Needed more hangers in the wardrobe which we provided.
Breakfast is excellent. All self service but an excellent choice.
Location is good, close to the old town.
Main issue for us is the room temperature. Even with the air conditioning running on full chill the room is far too hot at night. We couldn’t sleep. This needs addressing and updating. Totally unacceptable in the modern era. Hence it losses two stars on my rating.
