GREAT HOTEL IN SOFIA

Excellent Hotel in Sofia in a very quiet area 5 minutes walk from the center (Vitosha Avenue) and the metro stop.
Very large room (we had a king studio) clean and quiet.
Good breakfast with choice between sweet and savory.
Staff courteous and helpful.

A Simple Hotel for Simple Needs

The Hotel Sofia Palace Hotel is a straightforward hotel that adequately meets straightforward requirements.
The positives are that is has a very convenient location (I was on a three-night business trip) for the city centre. Vistosha Boulevard is but a five-minute walk away. My room was clean, comfortable (though I made my own bed with a duvet found in a wardrobe and a sheet placed under my towels) and quiet from external noise. WiFi was very good. Breakfast was average, with a selection of cereals, savoury and hot choices. Complementary bottled water and tea / coffee in the room.
The not-so-goods: breakfast beverages were underwhelming; orange juice was very chemically tasting, while coffee was not great. Internal noise was a bit intrusive, I soon became aware of neighbours' toilet habits. There is very little to the hotel other than your room and the breakfast room (though I didn't try the gym as I'm a runner), so there is nowhere really to relax or socialise outside your room.
However, there is a good restaurant over the road for dinner, and a nice coffee shop just on the street corner for a decent brew.
In sum, well located but basic. It met my requirements for business and as a base to sleep / shower and have breakfast, but I would look for more for a leisure trip.

Terrible

My stay at sofia palace hotel was very disappointing. The rooms were not clean. The service throughout my stay was poor, and the staff were unhelpful and quite rude. I would not recommend this hotel.

Worth 2 stars max

Unfriendly staff. You can hear everyone flushing the toilets in the other rooms. They don't clean well. Only 1 person available at the hotel and cannot leave the reception. Definitely not a 4 star hotel

Location good. Service poor.

Pluses -Location is in heart of Sofia's Sedrica area. Close to major sites.
Minuses-service leaves something to be desired. Breakfast, no bowls for cereal/yogurt. Third request got it.
Had 50E wanted smaller bills. Front desk told us didn't have. Sent to bar area and couldn’t change. Went back to front desk and redirected to go to Bank or money exchange. Later that evening, it was no problem. Front desk person went to back office and exchanged.
Room cleaning wasn't consistent. Beds not made. Given 1 bath towel for 2 people. No tissues. No refill of toilet paper.
Room assigned, next to elevator. Noise.
Only reasonable given 3 star is because of location.
