A great place for a short stay.

We were only in the San Ignacio area for two nights and stayed at Cocopele at the recommendation of a our transportation service. It was very affordable and our plan was not to be in our room very long. We also wanted some place in town, so we could move around easily without the need for transportation. The Inn is an older building and it would be hard to call it luxurious. That being said, it was a comfortable and safe, and met our needs. Luce who owns and runs Cocopele is outstanding, generous and a great resource for information. She even drove us across town for free when we needed to meet someone that would have been a very long walk. I would definitely recommend Cocopele for someone who might be in town for just a short visit and just needs someplace to sleep. While it is in Santa Elena, it is very close to the bridge that separates Santa Elena and San Ignacio -maybe a 10 minute walk to the San Ignacio market.

Great Spot to Stay

The room was excellent - every amenity one could need and impeccably clean, Yolanda was very helpful and charming, Lucy organized anything I needed and is a great resource. The location is quiet and easy to find.

Couldn't have been more helpful

I stayed at the Cocopele Inn for 3 nights and Lucy couldn't have done more to make me feel at home. Simple but wholly comfortable, with great wifi, warm water and a secure feel, the Inn is a wonderful place to be based in a lovely and welcoming little town

Good and affordable place to stay in SI/Santa Elena

This place is technically in Santa Elena but it is 5 minutes walk across the bridge from central San Ignacio. We came here for our last night in SI. We had been staying at Cahal Pech but were leaving super early for Tikal and wanted to stay somewhere more central and cheaper. Even though Cahal Pech is technically in SI, it is a 20 minute walk up or down a steep hill whereas this place is a leisurely walk across a bridge with a pedestrian path. The rooms are basic but comfortable and cozy. The host is very kind and helpful and showed me how to use Belizean washing machines, lol.

Very happy!

We had a great time at Cocopele Inn. The 2 bedroom space was clean and spacious, easily accomadating our 4 person group. The A/c was a nice break from the heat. The kitchen facilities and drinking water were a definate plus and the place felt safe and secure. The area is quiet, yet within walking distance of many shops, tour companies and restaurants. What really made this place stand out to me was Lucy, the hostess. She was knowledgeable and helped us find the tour companies and shuttle services we needed. We were very happy with her recomendations. She also offers laundry services for a reasonable price, which was great. Left the dirty basket out before heading out touring and they were clean and folded when we returned. Will be returning here for sure!
