5* Chill out on the Duoro
We stayed 3 nights at the hotel for some chill out, having stayed more centrally for the previous 4 days to explore Porto.
The hotel is beautifully curated, a feast for your eyes, even much nicer than the pictures. There is a lovely signature vanilla scent throughout.
The hotel has a fantastic riverside setting with beautiful views from everywhere set in lovely gardens.
We spent most of our time relaxing by the pool watching boat activity on the river! One afternoon we used the courtesy water taxi to Porto and walked the 4km back along the river. The water taxi goes one way 4 times a day between 12-5. The taxi operator is so friendly and professional.
All the staff at the hotel were all superb and completely focused on providing an excellent and friendly service.
We opted to eat at the hotel every night, at the Terrace restaurant which was so chilled… lovely background playlist , scent of jasmine wafting, delicious food and a varied menu.
Our bedroom just oozed luxury, a beautiful wall to wall window looking towards the river with a lovely balcony to relax on, mood lighting, automated curtains, a well designed bathroom with high end toiletries, a comfy bed and the softest fluffy carpet.
The large spa area is a very chilled experience too though needs booked when the hotel is busy. Unfortunately some folk insisted on using their mobile phones on speaker to make calls and watch videos, which is rather inconsiderate to others.
I’d never really thought of Porto as a chill out destination … but Hotel Vinha has made me reconsider!

Lovely long week-end stay in Porto
This hotel is a real great experience. Excellent staff, remarkable spa, breakfast ion the terrace with a view. The room is spacious and niceky decorated, bed perfect and evening turndown service (not to forget the sweets!).
The balcony offers a lovely view on the river.
Pool - great!
OK the building dates back to 70s but the interior designers did an excellent job and also the old villa part and gardens are nice.

Perfect stay for an extended weekend
Perfect stay for an extended weekend. Beautiful and cosy hotel with all the services you need.
Super gentle and helpful staff. Breakfast on the terrace that does not a single wish uncovered. Perfect diner. Hotel and the Vinha restaurant definitely worth atop recommandation.

Why you SHOULD STAY HERE!
I was worried this might not have been a good choice judging from the mixed reviews. However, I soon realised my misconceptions were completely wrong!
Attentive and friendly service throughout our stay! Just perfect! Nothing was ever too much trouble and everyone hade us feel welcomed! This was absolutely the best hotel service that I have ever had!
Would definitely recommend to couples wanting a bit of a get away.

Disappointing Customer Service Experience
I recently stayed at this hotel and, overall, the experience was wonderful. The rooms are clean and well-appointed, the grounds are stunning, and the pool area is beautiful and relaxing. The environment itself truly feels luxurious and serene.
However, there’s one aspect of my stay that left such a bad taste that I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending this hotel to others. While lounging at the pool with my sister, a staff member came by twice to ask if we needed anything. On the second visit, we asked for water—nothing fancy, just the standard boxed water they provide for free in the gym and in the hotel room mini-fridge. He brought us four of those over the course of our time at the pool. We assumed, naturally, that this water would also be complimentary.
It wasn’t. We were charged 4 euros per water—for the exact same water that’s freely available elsewhere in the hotel. It is the smallest box/quantity of water too… (8 oz or 250ml) And only at the end were we informed of this, when I was asked to sign a bill I hadn’t been told was accruing. To make matters worse, the server asked for a tip.
When I raised this with management, they simply said there was nothing they could do because it was considered a “poolside service.” To me, that’s not a service—it’s a hidden charge. Charging guests for basic water, especially when it’s provided free in other parts of the hotel, feels like a deceptive practice.
It’s a shame because the hotel itself is lovely, but that one experience overshadowed what could’ve been a glowing review. Transparency and consistency matter—and in this case, both were lacking.
