Discover Ushuaia
Built on a narrow slice of land, where the Andes meet the ocean, the jumbled little town of Ushuaia is the perfect destination for adventure travellers. As the world’s southernmost city, Ushuaia prides itself on sitting at the end of the world.
The Tierra del Fuego region boasts plenty of activities to sink your teeth into. Ushuaia makes the perfect base for skiing, sailing, scuba diving, hiking, kayaking and heading off to explore the Antarctic. Ushuaia is a busy little city with plenty to see and do, with a buzzing nightlife and plenty of great souvenir shops as well as a range of quality restaurants. There’s even a casino or two, if you’re feeling lucky.
Airports in Ushuaia
Ushuaia International Airport (USH) is the world’s southernmost international airport, and is a main hub for passengers heading off on an Antarctic cruise. It’s also ideal for people visiting Ushuaia, whether that’s for the lively culture or to indulge in one of the region’s thrill-seeking adventure activities.
Airlines that fly to Ushuaia
There are no direct flights from the UK to Ushuaia. The majority of flights are domestic, with a few flights from Brazil.
Aerolineas Argentinas fly from Buenos Aires and El Calafate. LADE fly in from Comodoro Rivadavia, El Calafate, Puerto Deseado, Puerto San Julian, Puerto Santa Cruz, Rio Gallegos, and Rio Grande. LAN Argentina fly in from Buenos Aires and El Calafate.
There are also seasonal flights from Sao Paulo with Gol Transportes Aereos, from Punta Arenas with LAN Airlines, and from Sao Paulo with TAM Airlines.
Getting into Ushuaia
Taxis are available from the airport and should cost around 10 Argentine Pesos (about 75p)*. Always confirm prices with the driver before you set off, or at least ask for an estimate, to avoid any nasty surprises. It’s also possible to hire a car at the airport: both Avis and Hertz have desks on the premises.

When to fly to Ushuaia
The high season in Ushuaia is during summer, from December until March. This is when hotels are at their busiest and flights are most expensive, so be sure to book early if you want to grab a deal. It’s not exactly a sunshine destination, with highs reaching just 15°C
